Is there any better way to treat Mum this Mother’s Day than with a little pampering? At The Chiropractic Works, we range a selection of products from local South Australian business, Brooklan Tree and it’s hard to select just a few products and treatments to indulge Mum with this Mothers Day. What we love most about the range at Brooklan Tree is the ingredients, and Mum will too. Certified organic and natural ingredients. No testing on animals. Just pure goodness for your skin. In the retail store, you can pick out Mum a little something including their Magnesium Salts for a little R&R. But I am sure Mum would love a massage or an organic facial for some true R&R, and that well deserved me time. Organic Facial Choose from 45 or 60 minutes and it’s quick and easy to make an appointment online for Mum or visit the store on Grange Road to pick up a gift voucher. Hot Stone or Relaxation Hard to choose? We agree, so you could let Mum choose with a gift voucher. Pamper Packs Finally, compliment Mum’s indulgence with a little something for her at home. Cass, the owner and founder of Brooklan Tree has curated a selection of pamper packs and kits including clay masks or feet therapy. So, what are you buying Mum this Mothers Day?

Yes, we know it’s getting colder and the Winter months are not too far away but now is the time dust of the gum boots and explore nature when it’s at it’s greenest. It’s time to play outside, and we are not just talking about the kids. With the latest app and many streaming devices to choose from, it’s easy to stay inside and cosy up on the couch, and while we all need the downtime, we need to remember to play outside this Winter. For us as adults, and for our kids so switch off this Winter, literally. Go outside. Explore. Play. We found this blog feature from Harvard, which details 6 reasons why our kids should play outside, which include Sunshine, Exercise, Executive Function, learning to take risks, Socialisation and appreciation of nature. Read the full article HERE! With the benefits of playing outside well known, lets look at what and how we can play outside this Winter. Find joy in the little things The little things, we loved them as kids and our kids love them now… and mostly, the little things are easy to do and right outside our front door. What are the ‘little things’? Jumping in puddles with your kids, not watching. Just imagine the joy on their faces when you put your gumboots too and join in, these are memories that they won’t forget. Practise skimming rocks. Waste the day away, listening to the waves, and throwing rocks into the water. Collect Autumn leaves and create a collage Bubbles! Invest in a bubble wand, it’s such simple fun to get outside and jump around to pop bubbles. You can easily make your own mix, just google ‘non-toxic bubble mix’ and find a recipe that suits you. Plant some Winter vegetables, visit Bunnings and ask the kids to pick up some Winter seedlings, a pot and they can plant it and watch them grow. 2. Adventure Walks As we embrace the concept of ‘exploring our own backyard’ there is no better time to go on an adventure. we have so many places to step into nature and be outdoors, here are just a few. Woorabinda Bushland Reserve Loop, Stirling Wirraparinga Trail Loop, Mitcham Blackwood Forest Recreation Park, Blackwood Chookarloo Walk, Kuitpo Forest Fourth Creek Walk, Morialta Conservation Park St Kilda Mangrove Trail (and visit the St Kilda Adventure Playground and make a day of…

We know a massage feels great, yet we often view the time it takes to get a massage and indulgent or even selfish, when in reality, the benefits of a regular massage far out weigh the 30-60 minutes of indulgence.
John McGeagh, our resident massage therapist at Henley Beach has been qualified for over 26-years and working full-time for 21 years so John has seen it all, particularly over the last 6-months as working from home has increased, so has the risk of working at a station that is not set up to encourage best posture, so we asked John a few ways massage could help.

Make Working from Home, Work For You In these unprecedented times, many of our patients and members of our South Australian community may find themselves working from home for an indefinite period of time. While we are all trying to do our bit to stay safe and protect the vulnerable in our community, we also must create spaces at home that support our health and wellbeing. We at The Chiropractic Works are here to help. If you need some guidance on how to make working from home, work for you, here are some simple tips you can start using today. Routine Set yourself a routine, much like you would if you were still going to work every day. Wake up at the same time every morning, eat meals regularly and set aside time to exercise to help maintain your physical and mental wellbeing. Set up a productive space If you have a separate study in your home then look no further, but for many a work set up will usually be on the kitchen table. Try to avoid working on your bed or on the couch so you can separate work from relaxation at the end of the day. Get the ergonomics right in your workspace by bringing an ergonomic/supportive chair to the table and sitting with your feet either flat on the floor or supported by a footrest. Arms should be relaxed by your side (wrist straight when using mouse and elbows at 90-110deg when typing), with you posture relaxed and tall. If there is an opportunity to be at a standing desk, even better, as this will be helpful for most people. If standing, maintain an upright relaxed posture and use a footrest. Your eyes should be looking straight ahead at your screen and if you’re working off a laptop, you can do this by having a separate mouse and keyboard and elevating your screen, to help keep your posture straight. Take breaks While it’s easy to get lost in the hours of work, it’s important to remember to give both your mind and body a much-needed break. Every 30 minutes or so, get up and do a little stretch or something quick and active like 10 squats or star-jumps. As long as you’re moving! The Straighten Up app is also a great tool to help get you moving and improving your posture. The app developed by the Australian Chiropractors…
